About Southern Pine Electric Cooperative
In 1938, a group of local farmers and other residents banded together to find a way to bring electricity to the rural homes and farms of this area. They incorporated what is now known as Southern Pine Electric Cooperative. Through much sweat and tears, these local pioneers were finally able to electrify the rural areas of Baldwin, Conecuh, Covington, Escambia and Monroe counties.
Southern Pine Electric Cooperative, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative®, is a not-for-profit, member-owned distribution co-op serving over 22,500 accounts. The co-op is headquartered in Brewton, Ala., with district offices in Atmore, Evergreen and Frisco City. Think about this! If every American home replaced just one light bulb with an Energy Star rated compact fluorescent bulb (CFL), we could save enough energy to light more than 2.5 million homes for one full year.
