Have you ever heard of Ground Fault Circuit Interruptors (GFCI)? They are fast-acting circuit breakers that cut off power in less than 1/40 of a second--enough time to save you from getting shocked in the case of an electrical ground fault. If your home doesn't already have GFCIs, they can be installed inexpensively. Most home improvement stores will have exactly what you need.
H2O PLUS Water Heater Program

H2O PLUS logoH2O PLUS is an innovative program that uses technology to manage energy usage when demand for electricity is highest--the times when you and your neighbors are using the most electricity.

H2O PLUS allows Southern Pine E C's power provider, PowerSouth, to remotely cycle your water heater for short periods of time (usually between two and four hours), helping reduce demand during those times when energy is the most expensive. A certified electrician installs the device which allows us to cycle your water heater. The device is installed at no cost to you.

Although you should not see any difference in the amount of hot water you have, this program can make a significant difference in the amount of power consumed across the entire Southern Pine system.
