ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

 

Don't miss the 2011 Southern Pine Annual Membership Meeting on Sat., Sept. 3

The meeting will be held at W. S. Neal High School in East Brewton, Ala. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues through 12:50 p.m. Each registering member receives a free prize upon registration.

Entertainment begins at 9 a.m. with local Gospel group New Vision, followed by Gospel greats Brian Free and Assurance at 10:30 a.m. The Youth Program begins at 10 a.m. with pony rides, clowns, games, music, face painting and much more.

D. W. McMillan Hospital of Brewton will offer members and their guests a free health fair, as well as information about their new Sleep Clinic. The American Red Cross, the Escambia County Health Department and the Ronald McDonald House of Mobile will be on hand with information about a number of programs each offers to local citizens.

There will be hot dogs, ice cream, popcorn, cotton candy, chips and soft drinks for everyone.

The business meeting begins at 1 p.m. Prizes galore will be awarded during the meeting, including cash, a TV and the Grand Prize Truck. But remember, YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN.

2010 Annual Meeting a Huge Success

 

Southern Pine's 2010 Annual Membership Meeting was held Saturday, Sept. 4 at W. S. Neal High School in East Brewton. There was free food, prizes and fun for everyone who attended. Approximately 3,000 members and family attended the fun-filled day.

Local group The Gospel Brothers performed from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Well known gospel group The Perrys entertained from 10:30 until noon.

The Youth Program ran from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. with music, dancing, clowns, face painting and much more. Hot dogs, chips, soft drinks, ice cream and cotton candy was available all day for those attending.

The business meeting begins as 1 p.m. All prizes will be awarded during the business meeting and YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN!

D. W. McMillan Hospital sponsored its free Health Fair in the Teacher's Lounge. The Health Fair included:

  • Accuchecks administered by hospital staff
  • Glucose screening vouchers
  • Cholesterol screening vouchers
  • Information on local support groups, self-help and educational programs facilitated by the hospital and in conjunction with other organizations, such as The Lupus Support Group.
Annual Meeting Excitement

Each year on the Saturday prior to Labor Day, Southern Pine Electric Cooperative  hosts its annual meeting and member appreciation day. All co-op members and their families are invited to attend the event which is held at W. S. Neal High School in East Brewton, Ala.

The day offers many types of entertainment, including a professional Southern Gospel singing group and a local gospel task force group. The youth program features face painting, pony rides, games, music and a clown. Children can enjoy balloons, popcorn, cotton candy, hot dogs and ice cream to their hearts content. The Escambia County Sheriff's Department is on hand each year to professionally fingerprint children in attendance utilizing the AFCA National I. D. Kits that Southern Pine sponsors. The department also brings its canine officer and dog who provide drug dog demonstrations that are enjoyed by children and adults alike. Each year from 600 to 800 youth take part in this exciting program.

D. W. McMillan Hospital of Brewton provides a free health fair for all members and their families. Hospital staff members perform blood pressure checks, and AccuChecks; dispense information on various self-help and support groups, as well as educational programs offered by the hospital and other area agencies. They also dispense free glucose and cholestrol testing vouchers that may be redeemed at the hospital at the members' convenience.

Registration for the event begins at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 12:50 p.m. The business portion of the meeting begins at 1 p.m. At this time names are pulled at randon for numerous prizes and voting for board members occurs. The general manager of Southern Pine gives a state of the cooperative speech, Washington, D. C. Youth Tour winners for the year are recognized and other important business issues are addresssed.

The Annual Meeting concludes around 2 p.m. with the announcement of the Grand Prize winner--the winner of a used cooperative vehicle!

Generally, more than 3,000 members and their families attend this exciting event each year.
