DON'T MESS WITH THAT METER - Tampering with your electric meter is dangerous and illegal! Seals are placed on electric meters for your protection. Breaking that seal and tampering with your meter exposes you to high voltage that could be deadly.

2007 Generator Safety Transfer Switch
Generators can be a great help during power outages, but you must be extremely careful when operating one. NEVER connect a portable generator directly to your household wiring. Even pulling your electric meter to hook a generator to your home’s wiring will not adequately protect you, your family, or your utility’s lineworkers.
There are only two safe methods of operating a generator: Either plug household appliances directly into a grounded portable generator or permanently install a double-throw transfer switch that will disconnect your home’s wiring system and generator from your utility’s system. The switch eliminates the chance of the generator feeding power back into the utility system and injuring or killing linemen working to restore your power or anyone else who may be touching the power line. This switch will also protect you and your family from possible electrocution.
Helping to educate our members and friends about important safety issues is just another way Southern Pine Electric Cooperative is looking out for you.
