Trees too large? Proper planting and tree-trimming procedures are necessary to help prevent interruption of electrical service. A service interruption can occur when branches contact power lines. These must be kept a safe distance from all electrical wires. Contact Southern Pine for details on safe distances required.

Students Attend 2007 Washington, D. C. Youth Tour
Recently, Southern Pine Electric Cooperative sponsored four local high school students to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Washington, D. C. Youth Tour in our nation’s capital. The four local students were: Amelia Couture of T. R. Miller High School; Maggie Crutchfield and Demitrius Barksdale of W. S. Neal High School; and LaTyron McCall of Monroe County High School.
 Southern Pine’s Youth Tour students joined approximately 1,500 students from electric cooperatives across the nation as they spent a week in Washington, D. C. The students had the opportunity to meet with their legislators, tour local sites of interest, attend leadership conferences and learn about the important roles that our local, state and federal governments play in the lives of rural electric cooperatives.
