Recently, Southern Pine Electric Cooperative sponsored four local high school students to the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s Washington, D. C. Youth Tour in our nation’s capital. The four local students were: Amelia Couture of T. R. Miller High School; Maggie Crutchfield and Demitrius Barksdale of W. S. Neal High School; and LaTyron McCall of Monroe County High School.
Southern Pine’s Youth Tour students joined approximately 1,500 students from electric cooperatives across the nation as they spent a week in Washington, D. C. The students had the opportunity to meet with their legislators, tour local sites of interest, attend leadership conferences and learn about the important roles that our local, state and federal governments play in the lives of rural electric cooperatives.
