When selecting light bulbs... 1) Choose compact fluorescent light bulbs which use about 75% less electricity and last about ten times longer than regular incandescent bulbs. 2) Use lower wattage bulbs. 3) Select fluorescent lights that are three to five times more efficient than regular bulbs.

2007 Electric Foundation Scholarship Recipient Named

Southern Pine Electric Cooperative recently named Sandra Stacey as the recipient of a $1,000 college scholarship.

The scholarship was provided through the Electric Cooperative Foundation Scholarship program that was created by the electric cooperatives of Alabama in 1997. The purpose of the program is to provide scholarships for post-secondary and vocational education for qualifying high school seniors. Dependents of members of participating cooperatives, such as Southern Pine Electric Co-op, are eligible to apply for the scholarships. This is the seventh year that scholarships were awarded from the fund.

Sandra Stacey is the daughter of James and Kellean Stacey of the Booneville community, outside Atmore, Ala. Sandra is a recent honor graduate of J. U. Blacksher High School. She plans to attend Faulkner State College in Bay Minette and later transfer to the University of South Alabama where she will major in secondary education.

Southern Pine Electric Cooperative, a Touchstone Energy® Cooperative, is a member-owned distribution co-op serving over 20,000 accounts in portions of Baldwin, Conecuh, Covington, Escambia and Monroe counties.
