Thank you to everyone who helped make Southern Pine Electric Cooperative's 2007 Holiday Food Drive a success. All donated non-perishable food items were delivered to food pantries spread across the co-op's service area. Food banks receiving donations in 2007 included: East Escambia County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Atmore Christian Care, Springhill United Methodist Church and New Haven Church of Christ. Those who donated food items to the drive registered their names for a chance at $50 cash prize from each of Southern Pine's four offices. The lucky $50 cash winners for 2007 were: Junior Coleman, Atmore office; Elaine Robinson, Brewton office; Brenda Windham, Evergreen office; and Gloria Luker, Frisco City office.
Southern Pine once again served as a Relay Station for the Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box Ministry program in 2007. From Monday, Oct. 29 through Wednesday, Nov. 15, Southern Pine offices collected 2,190 shoe boxes filled with toys, candies and hygienic items to be delivered to needy children across the world. Thank you to Evergreen Transportation for once again providing a truck and driver to transport the boxes from Southern Pine offices.
