Each year Southern Pine Electric Cooperative sponsors one member-couple to the annual Alabama Co-op Couples Conference in Orange Beach, Ala. The deserving couple is generally selected from among that year's Task Force Couples. Selected couples are usually involved in some facet of agriculture or agribusiness.
The Couples Conference is a three-day conference offering participants the opportunity to learn how their local cooperatives can assist them in their everyday life. In addition to Southern Pine Electric Co-op, other sponsors include: Alabama Farmers Co-op, Farmers Communications Co-op, Gold Kist, Federal Land Bank, First South Farm Credit, Alabama Rural Electric Cooperative Association and CoBank.
Jason and Joyce Weber, of Atmore, Ala., were selected to represent Southern Pine in 2007 at the conference which was held at the Hilton Beachfront Garden Inn in Orange Beach, Ala. The Webers were among 31 young couples who attended this 32nd annual conference.
