Each year Southern Pine offices serve as Relay Stations for the Operation Shoe Box Ministry, collecting shoe boxes filled with toys and hygienic items for needy children across the globe. Friends, neighbors, local churches, schools and scout troops are able to bring their filled shoe boxes to any of Southern Pine's four district offices. Southern Pine inspectseach box, making certain each is correctly labeled and then packs the individual boxes into shipping cartons. In 2009 with the help of an 18-wheeler and driver kindly donated for the day, Southern Pine delivered 2,482 shoe boxes to the Operation Christmas Child (OCC) Drop Off Station in Tillman's Corner.
Last year Southern Pine offices collected 2,246 shoe boxes filled with toys, candy and hygienic items that were delivered to needy children in more than 90 countries. Thank you for continuing to help by donating these items to help make Christmas special for children all across the world.
Operation Christmas Child is a division of the Samaratin's Purse organization and is headed by the evangelist Franklin Graham, son of the world-renowned Billy Graham.
OCC brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations all across the world by hand-delivering shoe boxes filled with toys, hygienic items, and booklets filled with the Good News of God's love.
The Shoe Box Ministry offers the opportunity for people of any age to become personally involved in a hands-on mission outreach that focuses on the true meaning of Christmas--the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this wonderful program. Southern Pine is happy to have played some small role in making this program a success.
